Kingpin of inter-State burglary gang held

RAMBAN, Sept 28: Police here today arrested a notorious kingpin of an inter-State burglary gang targeting religious places.
Police identified the alleged thief as Mohd Aslam Kasana, son of Beer Mohd Kasana, resident of Satoora, Hiranagar, Kathua.
He is believed to be a mastermind of a well-organized gang known for carrying out thefts at temples, Gompas and other religious places. The arrest was made by a dedicated team of cops from Police Station Batote following specific inputs.
During preliminary interrogation, Kasana confessed involvement in multiple theft cases spread across various Police jurisdictions.
He was wanted in FIR No. 27 of 2018 – Police Station Batote, FIR No. 43 of 2022 – Police Station Ramnagar, FIR No. 16/2025 – Police Station Zanskar and FIR No. 150 of 2025 – Police Station Rehmbal, Udhampur. After arrest, the accused was handed over to cops from Police Station Rehmbal, Udhampur, for further investigation related to the most recent case.
DIG DKR Range, Shridhar Patil and SSP Ramban, Arun Gupta praised Batote Police for their diligence and coordinated effort in capturing the accused.
Investigation was underway to identify other gang members and to recover the stolen property linked to the series of thefts.
