KISHTWAR, Nov 5: Former Minister and National Conference MLC Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo today distributed relief among the fire victims of village Khajrooni in Padder area.
The MLC distributed warm cloths and blankets among the victims and announced financial assistance of Rs 50,000 to each fire victim out of his Constituency Development Fund and Rs 10,000 each out of his salary.
Expressing anguish over failure of the political executives and administration to reach out to the victims, Kichloo demanded immediate rehabilitation of all the affected families and asked the Government to provide Rs 5 lakh to all the fire affected families of Padder, Sukhni Warwan and also to those who lost their homes in tragic fire incident at Hidyal Kishtwar.
The former Minister said that instead of indulging in photo shoots, the ruling BJP-PDP leaders should feel the agonies of sufferers and do something practically for their proper rehabilitation. He lamented that the ruling dispensation was just resorting to rhetoric as to the disappointment of many they failed to provide any succour to them when they were in need of help.
He said that villagers kept waiting for the help but no one turned up from the Government as a result of which the fire victims shifted to adjoining villages for sheltering their family amid intense cold conditions. He stressed on the immediate need of providing free timber, tin sheets, free one year ration to the sufferers, saying this is imperative in view of the remoteness of the area and fast approaching winter.
He said that Government and the administration should rise to the occasion and speed up the rehabilitation process on war footing.
