JAMMU, June 7: The KP Sabha Jammu has demanded a thorough probe by a Central Investigating Agency into the dastardly killing of Rakesh Pandita, Chairman Municipal Committee, Tral by terrorists on June 2 while he was visiting the house of his family friend.
In a letter to Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha KP Sabha president, K K Khosa said although he was credited with having worked relentlessly for the development of his area thereby gaining goodwill from the local population his killing raised serious concerns about the security scenario prevailing in Tral in particular. Undoubtedly it is a serious security lapse on the part of the security agency responsible for protection of a political leader whose name allegedly figured high on the hit list of the terrorists whose presence in the area was publicly known.
Unless the conspiracy behind the murder is exposed and culprits brought to book quickly such shameful acts will continue, Khosa said. Since he was a political activist who belonged to the minority K P community the killing assumes a different significance and connotation. Even after six days of the killing no clue has surfaced. Unless the mystery is unraveled it has the potential to instill fear psychosis among the minority which continues to be on the edge even after 31 years of it’s displacement from the Valley.
The Sabha demanded that adequate compensation be released without any delay in favour of the family of the deceased.
