Speaking to reporters after meeting the family of Syed Adil Hussain, the tourist guide, Khatana described his courage as exemplary and a source of pride for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“He did what Islam teaches. With his sacrifice, he has made the people of Kashmir proud,” he said.
Commenting on the collective response of Kashmiris in condemning the attack, the MP said that people had united in the face of brutality.
“We have sent a message to the world that we will not tolerate terrorism, and those responsible must be punished,” he said, adding that both the opposition in Delhi and political parties in J&K have supported the Government’s proposed measures in wake of the terror attack.
J&K Apni Party chief and former minister Syed Muhammad Altaf Bukhari also visited Adil’s family and described his act as “a true reflection of a Muslim.”
“He made a great sacrifice and, through it, demonstrated what Islam really teaches. What he has done reflects the values of a true Muslim. Those who committed this heinous act are nothing but beasts,” he said.
MLA Langate, Sheikh Khursheed, said that the braveheart Syed Adil represents the real face of J&K, not the “extremist” portrayal seen in some sections of the national media.
He emphasized that the unity shown by the people and political parties in J&K should serve as an example for the rest of the country. “Those who carried out this attack aimed to divide us,” he added.
