SAMBA, Sept 28: Senior BJP leader and Member of Parliament, Gulam Ali Khatana, today paid a surprise visit to flood-affected areas of district Samba to assess the ground situation and extend support to the affected families.
During his visit to Khara Madana, Pringnal Gujjar Basti, Talab Shama, Jaiswal, Rajput Mohalla, Keuli (Katwalta), Peer Chatala Dangal and Bari Brahmana, Khatana interacted with residents, listened to their concerns firsthand, and assured them of timely relief and rehabilitation measures.
Khatana emphasized that no effort would be spared in ensuring immediate assistance and long-term restoration for the affected population. At the same time, he strongly criticized the Omar Abdullah-led Government for what he termed its failure in the past to provide even temporary road connectivity, ensure timely restoration of water supply, and conduct proper damage assessments during natural calamities.
The MP was accompanied by officials from various departments including PWD (R&B), Rural Development, Flood & Irrigation, Power Development, Agriculture, Revenue, Jal Shakti (PHE), Police, Food & Civil Supplies, PMGSY, Education, Social Welfare, Forest, SDRF, Sports, ICDS, and Health.
Political leaders and local representatives present during the visit included Mushtaq Inqalabi, National Secretary (Tribal, BJP); former BDC Arshad Begum; Advocate Mohd Riyaz; Sulaman; Mandal Pardhans Tara Chand, Ram Saroop, Bansi Lal Chand, Choudhary, Molvi Noor, Hasan Mohd, Mohd Yonas, Baripul Singh, and Riyaz Ahmed (BJP).
Reaffirming the Centre’s commitment to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the people in times of crisis, Khatana assured that both short-term relief and long-term rehabilitation measures would be expedited.
