‘Khalsa Sajna Divas’ celebrated

JAMMU, Apr 13:  Khalsa Sajna   Divas  was celebrated in  Gurudwara Baba Chanda Singh Ji, Jain Bazar here today with religious fervor and gaiety.
An impressive ‘Kirtan Darbar’ was organized at Gurudwara by the management committee of the Gurdwara. The community members  from surrounding areas of Jammu city reached Gurudwara for listening the ‘Gurbani Path’. The langar was also arranged for the devotees. Sikh religious persons Bhai Sukhdev Singh and Dr Tejinder Singh recited the Gurbani Path.
While speaking on the occasion  Sukhbir Singh, president Management Committee Gurudwara Baba Chanda Singh Ji  demanded minority status for the Sikh Community in the State.  He also demanded  to settle the claims of 1947 refugees by giving them property rights of Evacuee property and compensation, appointment of Punjabi teachers in school and colleges, allotment of special quota of sugar for the Sangat on the eve of Martyrs day of Guru Arjun Dev Ji,  declaring  Gurudwara Guru Nanak Dev Jee Chand  Nagar as historical site  and put the same on Tourist map, declaring the Martyr’s Day of Shri Guru Arjun Dev Ji Maharaj and Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji Maharaj as Gazetted Holiday on the same analogy of Government of Delhi, Chandigarh, Punjab and UP.
The participants also urged upon the Chief Minister J&K State to name the Kunjwani Chowk as Baba Banda Singh  Bahadur Chowk and install Statue of  Baba Banda Singh Bahadur and implement Ansari Commission report on 1989 anti Sikh riots in J&K and settlement of claims. It was further demanded that the  State Government should immediately settle the claims of 1947 refugees by giving them property rights of Evacuee Property and compensation.
The Sangat demanded that a Cabinet berth be also given to Sikh Community in J&K Government.
All the office bearer of Nirvair Social organization, Surinder Singh Shinda, Manjeet Singh Azad, Jagbir Singh, Jagjeet Singh, Dr Tejinder Singh, Jagdeep Singh, Shahbaz Singh, Amarjeet Singh, Surjeet Singh, Raj Kumar were also present on the occasion.
