Key accused in Bathindi attack arrested

JAMMU, July 2: Police have recently arrested a man, who is believed to be one of the main accused in connection with an attack on a youth in Bathindi area on February 18 this year.
After the arrest on June 30, he was presented in a local court for seeking his remand, and today, he, along with another key accused, was taken to the crime spot for collection of the evidence.
On February 18, 2025, a group of men attacked a youth, Mohammad Amir in Bathindi area with a sharp-edged weapon (toka) and iron roads, inflicting serious injuries on him, with his nose also slashed.
Accordingly, an FIR number 59/2025 under sections 109, 110, 130, 131, 61, 351, 115(2), 118(2) BNS and 4/25 Arms Act was registered at Police Station Bahu fort and after investigation, five persons were arrested in connection with the attack, with key accused, Tahir Iqbal, remaining at large.
“He was arrested on June 30, presented in the court the same day, and after getting his remand, he was taken to the crime spot for collection of the evidence today,” a police officer said.
Further investigation in the case is underway, he said.
