JAMMU, Feb 6: Jammu & Kashmir president of Shiv Sena Hindustan, Pt Rajesh Kesri, today expressed deep concern over the alarming rise in drug abuse and narcotics trafficking in the region.
Addressing a press conference, Kesri stated that drug addiction has emerged as a grave social menace, particularly affecting districts such as Jammu, Samba, and Kathua, where drug trafficking activities have seen a disturbing increase. Border Head Sanjeev Sharma, vice chairman Rajkumar and treasurer Praveen Gupta were also present.
Stressing that law enforcement alone cannot win this battle, Kesri called upon society at large to come forward and support the police. He urged social workers, political parties, sarpanches, panchayat members, mohalla committee leaders, and civil society organizations to actively participate in awareness campaigns and share information to root out drug networks from their localities. “Only collective and sustained efforts can ensure complete success in eliminating this social evil,” he said.
