KOCHI, Feb 6 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Nitin Nabin tonday asserted that Kerala is ready for a political change and expressed confidence that the BJP-led NDA will form a government in the state in the coming elections, citing the sustained struggle and sacrifice of party Karyakartas.
Addressing the Booth Adhyaksh Sammelan of Alappuzha and Ernakulam Revenue Districts in Ernakulam, Nabin said politics is not a short sprint but a long marathon, and Kerala’s BJP workers have demonstrated unwavering commitment despite decades of political hostility.
“The BJP ended Left rule in Tripura and hoisted the party flag across the entire North East. In West Bengal too, our karyakartas are fighting with dedication and sacrifice. I am confident that the sacrifice of our karyakartas in Kerala will not go in vain. The lotus will bloom here as well, and an NDA alliance government will be formed,” he said.
Recalling the BJP’s journey from having just two Members of Parliament to becoming the party with the highest number of MPs, MLAs and karyakartas in the country, Nabin said the party’s growth in Kerala signals a decisive political shift. He noted that the BJP flag and the saffron flag have never bowed down in the state.
Reiterating the party’s ideological stand of “Nation first, party next, self last,” Nabin paid tribute to over 250 BJP and Sangh workers who lost their lives for the ideology.
He said the party’s steady expansion in Kerala is evident in its current representation, including one Member of Parliament, one Mayor, two Municipal Chairpersons, over 30 Panchayat Presidents and more than 2,000 elected representatives across the state.
Launching a sharp attack on the Congress and the Left Democratic Front (LDF), Nabin alleged that both parties have consistently hurt religious sentiments and weakened Sanatana Dharma, including during the Sabarimala issue.
He accused both the LDF and the UDF of appeasement politics, corruption and collusion that have stalled Kerala’s development.
Referring to the attack on BJP MP Sadanandan Master, whose legs were chopped off due to ideological differences, Nabin questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, asking under which provision of the Constitution such violence could be justified.
He said Sadanandan Master’s speech in the Rajya Sabha symbolised the rise of a grassroots worker who endured severe persecution to become the voice of Kerala in Parliament.
Expressing concern over large-scale youth migration, Nabin said three to four lakh young people leave Kerala every year in search of employment, holding the INDI alliance responsible.
He also alleged that Kerala had once become a major centre of the banned Popular Front of India (PFI), which was outlawed by the Centre on September 28, 2022.
Highlighting development initiatives, Nabin said the Centre has provided Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat trains to Kerala and views the state as a key part of the Rare Earth Corridor and ecological tourism development.
He said recent international trade agreements signed by India would benefit farmers, traders and coastal fishing communities.
Despite Kerala’s natural wealth and strengths in Ayurveda and science, he said decades of alternating rule by the LDF and UDF had held the state back.
“Kerala now stands at a turning point. The message from the ground is clear-Kerala is ready for change, and the youth will lead this transformation,” he said.
Nabin, who arrived in Kochi to a warm reception by union Ministers, former state BJP presidents, state general secretaries and senior leaders, said he would take part in several organisational meetings over the next two days and interact closely with party workers to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots.
