NEW DELHI, June 20: Kerala Minister for Industries, Commerce & Sports, E.P. Jayarajan called on Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth Affairs and Sports, MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh here and discussed a wide range of issues related to his State and also conveyed good wishes on behalf of the new Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan who took over last month on 25th May after the change of government following the State Assembly elections.
Dr Jitendra Singh reciprocated by conveying his best wishes to the new Chief Minister and said, he looked forward to meet him in near future.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, the present Union Government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, works in a spirit of cooperative federalism and ensures genuine support as well as fair deal for every State of the Union. He referred to some of the path-breaking reforms brought in by the Government in last two years, which included the abolition of interviews for selection to junior level posts and said, the State Governments are also being pursued to carry forward the same.
Jayarajan brought to the notice of Dr Jitendra Singh that recently, the Indian Olympic Association had sought the Kerala Government’s willingness to host the 6th Asian Beach Games in 2018, regarding which, the final call is to be taken by the Olympic Council of Asia. Jayarajan handed over to Dr Jitendra Singh, a written request to enable the State of Kerala to host this international event jointly with the Government of India.
Dr Jitendra Singh assured Jayarajan that he would look into the matter and find out all the details from the concerned.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, Kerala is endowed with immense natural beauty and is also rightfully described as “God’s own land”. Conveying his best wishes, he hoped that the new Kerala government will have a successful term and work for the development of the State.
