JAMMU, Mar 8: A one day literary and cultural festival named as Samanabal -26 was organised by Kashmir Cultural Trust (KCT) in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages at here, today.
Welcoming the guests and participants Dr. Roop Krishen Bhat Managing Trustee said KCT has been organising such programmes and other such conferences, seminars, workshops etc to promote the Kashmiri language and culture outside the Valley of Kashmir among the displaced community for last over two decades to keep the future generation connected with its roots in Kashmir.
The specialty of the Samanbal-2026 was a symposium entitled, “Contribution of women writers to literature in exile”.
The keynote address was presented by eminent scholar professor Ratan Talashi. While tracing the origin of women writers to eminent saint poet Lal Ded he elaborated on the revival of Vaakh style of poetry in exile by contemporary women poet Bimal Raina. Detailed papers on women writers were presented by Vinod Kumar and Prof. Farooq Fayaz. The session was presided by eminent writer and celebrated scholar Prof. R.L.Shant. He appreciated the efforts of KCT for organising a well deserved event. He further highlighted the contributions of present time i.e. 21st century women writers like Bimla Raina, Sunita Raina Pandit, Santosh Nadaan etc.for their works especially in poetry.
Mementoes were presented to all the women writers on this occasion by senior writers and community leaders like Moti Koul, M K Yogi, Piare Hatash etc.
On this occasion books written by Dr. Roop Krishen Bhat, Dr. Gauri Shankar, Raina, Engineer Vinod were released. This session was presided over by Aseer Kishtwari, Dr.P.N.Trisal. Others who attended and deliberated in various sessions included Prof Zaman Azurda, Shahnawaz Hussain, Anil Tickoo of the Academy, Dr.R.L.Bhat, R.L.Jowhar, Avtar Hugami Dr. Gauri Shankar Raina, Rinku Koul.
A short story session was arranged in which eminent writers like Makhan Lal Pandita, Vijay Sagar, Dr, Gauri Shankar Raina, Rinku Koul and Dr. Roop Krishen Bhat presented their stories. A recitation of poetry, was also arranged in which about 20 poets recited there poetries.
The programme was anchored by popular artist Ramesh Maratha and vote of thanks was presented by Shri Aryan Ramesh Member Advisory Board Kashmir Cultural Trust.
