SRINAGAR, Mar 18: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) today voiced its concerns regarding the frequent power outages experienced in various parts of the Valley, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.
In a statement issued in this regard, the KCCI said that the power shutdown causes tremendous difficulties for consumers in their day-to-day lives, including offering prayers and performing religious rituals.
Expressing astonishment at what it termed as the insensitive behavior of the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL), KCCI highlighted the department’s failure to prioritize the auspicious month.
Despite advancements such as widespread cable connections and smart meter installations, KCCI noted a lack of empathy from the department towards the suffering populace.
Furthermore, the trade body underscored the economic losses suffered by trading communities due to these power disruptions, emphasizing the urgent need for intervention.
The chamber urged the authorities to promptly address the power crisis to safeguard the well-being of the people and ensure the uninterrupted functioning of businesses across the Kashmir Valley.
KCCI also appealed to the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, to review the situation and instruct KPDCL officials to take immediate measures to curtail power outages.
