SRINAGAR, June 5: While welcoming the inauguration of the direct rail link between Katra and Srinagar, the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) today urged the Government to commence cargo train services to unlock the full economic potential of Kashmir.
A KCCI spokesperson said the introduction of cargo services would facilitate the timely import of goods and essential raw materials into the region. “This will streamline the supply chain, enhance production efficiency for local industries, and significantly reduce overall logistics costs. Improved freight connectivity will ensure consistent availability of inputs, minimize delays, and contribute to a more competitive business environment in Kashmir,” he said.
