JAMMU, May 6: Apni Trade Union State President, Ajaz Kazmi on Thursday appealed Lt. Governor, Manoj Sinha to direct financial institutions for waiving off the EMI installments of downtrodden sections of society associated with the business of houseboats, Shikharas, taxis, cabs, auto rickshaws and street hawkers in view of the current COVID-19 crisis.
He said that lockdowns restrictions across the country have made lives of traders and business class people miserable.
“The trade and business of J&K has been hit badly by the continuous lockdowns and restrictions from the last one year and has immensely affected the traders running small business units of Shikharas, houseboats, taxis, cabs and rickshaws,” Kazmi maintained adding: “They have become prime victims of lockdown and have suffered badly.”
He further said, their position is quite deplorable and they are not in a position to pay their monthly loan installments.
“Keeping in view the current financial position of these sections of society, J&K LG should save the future of these businessmen on humanitarian grounds,” Kazmi said demanding special financial package in favour of these business classes.
