JAMMU, Jan 15: A multilingual Mushaira dedicated to Parkash Utsav of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji was organized by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) in collaboration with Chander Bhaga Sanskriti Manch (CBSM), Akhnoor at Kameshwar Mandir, Akhnoor today.
A senior columnist on Art & Culture, visual artist and a writer Jang S. Verman presided over the programme whereas Mohan Lal Bhagat, MLA Akhnoor was the chief guest on the occasion. Dr KC Bhagat, Senior Scientist (Retd.) SKUAST, Srinagar, O P Shakir, president CBSM and Popinder Singh Paras, Editor Sheeraza of JKAACL also shared the dais.
Prominent Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi and Dogri poets of Jammu & Kashmir presented their poems dedicated to Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and patriotism. The writers who presented their poetry included Manjeet Singh Kaamra, Didar Singh, Bhupinder Singh Bhargav, Suraj Rattan, Rattan Bhardwaj, Kewal Kumar Kewal, Dr Krishan Lal, Mamta Sharma, Kiran Prabha, Sonu Raipuria, Renu Sharma, O P Sharma, Virender Mishra, Mohan Bharti, Nasib Singh Nasib and Jang S. Verman.
OP Shakir, President CBSM formally welcomed the guests and the poets. He gave a brief about the multilingual Kavi Durbar organized at Akhnoor.
Jang S. in his presidential address said that the tradition of sacrifices have been a highlight of principles laid down in Sikhism. He said that the poems presented the true spirit of patriotism and the sense of martyrdom for the cause of nation and religion. He appreciated the efforts made by JKAACL to promote different languages of the region and spreading communal harmony through value based programmes. He also lauded the enthusiasm extended by S. Popinder Singh Paras in executing the programmes of JKAACL at various places including remote areas of J&K.
Mohan Lal Bhagat said that the principles given by Sri Guru Gobind Singh are quite relevant in today’s context. He appreciated the contribution of poets and writers in making the people more aware of their role in awakening the youth in respect of patriotism.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Ashok Kumar, a well known poet from Akhnoor.
