JAMMU, Mar 13: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu & Kashmir today said that the special train service between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Budgam has been approved for regular operation, terming the development a step towards strengthening rail connectivity in the region.

In a statement shared through its official social media handle, the Party said that Train Number 04687/04688 Sh Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-Budgam, which was earlier operating as a special service, will now run regularly as Train Number 14687/14688 Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-Budgam Express.
According to the statement, the decision was taken following the persistent efforts of Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Dr Jitendra Singh, who took up the matter with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
The party said that the move will significantly improve rail connectivity between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Budgam, facilitating smoother travel for pilgrims visiting the shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi as well as for the general public.
BJP J&K further stated that the approval for regular operation of the train service reflects the development-oriented vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, under whose leadership several infrastructure and connectivity projects have been strengthened across J&K.
The Party described the development as an important step aimed at enhancing public convenience and boosting regional connectivity through improved railway services.
