Kathua police seizes 19 bottles of liquor, arrests bootlegger

KATHUA, Nov 12: Continuing its efforts to discourage the trade and transportation of illicit liquor, J&K police Kathua under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, Ms. Mohita Sharma arrested one bootlegger and recovered 19 bottles of JK Excise Whisky i.e 11 Bottles of 750 ml each and eight Bottles of JK Special Whisky 180 ml each from the possession his possession at Sallan area of Police Station (PS) Hiranagar as well as seized motorcycle involved in transportation of illicit liquor.
Police said today its team led by SHO PS Hiranagar Inspector, Ashish Sharma under the supervision of SP Operations, Kathua, Mukund Tibrewal and SDPO Border, Dheeraj Katoch during naka checking in its jurisdictional area at Sallan apprehended one person namely Sunil Kumar Sharma son of Ram Krishan of Parangoli tehsil, Dinga Amb, district, Kathua who was on way from Dyalachak side towards Dinga Amb on his Motorcyle bearing Registration Number JK08G-1619.
During checking 19 bottles of JK Excise Whisky i.e (11 Bottles of 750 ml each, 08 Bottles of JK special Whisky 180 ml each) were recovered from his possession. In this regard a case FIR No 159/2025 U/S 48 (a) Excise Act has been registered at PS Hiranagar.
SSP Kathua Ms. Mohita Sharma warned that strict action will be taken against anyone involved in illegal Trade/transportation of illicit liquor.
