KATHUA, Nov 2:- Continuing its efforts against drug menace, J&K police Kathua under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua Mohita Sharma recovered 13.52 grams of Heroin (Chitta) in Industrial area of Kathua and Phinter area of Billawar during last 24 hours.
Police said it recovered 5.34 grams at Berrian Pattan area of PP Industrial Estates Kathua and arrested one drug peddler.
Police said acting on the intelligent input received through a reliable source, a team led by IC PP Industrial Estates Kathua PSI Subham Mahajan under the supervision of Additional SP Kathua, Rahul Charak, DySP Hqrs Kathua, Ravinder Singh and SHO PS Kathua Inspector, Sandeep Singh Chib laid down a special naka/ checking at Berrian Pattan area on Saturday and apprehended one person namely Mohammed Anjum, son of Biniya Amin of Maggar Khad Jagatpur tehsil & district Kathua who was having 5.34 grams of heroin in his possession.
The recovered contraband was seized and accused person was taken into police custody on spot. In this connection, further investigation is in progress vide FIR No. 538/2025 U/S 8/21/22/NDPS Act, PS Kathua.
In another case Kathua police today recovered approximately 8.18 grams Heroine at Phinter area of PS Billawar and arrested two drug peddlers and seized the vehicle which was involved in smuggling of drugs.
Police said today a team of PS Billawar led by SHO Billawar Inspector, Zaheer Mushtaq under the supervision of SP Upper Kathua, Aamir Iqbal and SDPO Billawar, Neeraj Padyar established a special naka at Phinter Chowk for checking of vehicles. One vehicle (ECO Van) Bearing Registration Number JK08K – 5624 was signalled to stop for checking. On seeing police party the driver of the vehicle tried to speed up, but police party chased and stopped the vehicle. During checking two suspicious persons were sitting in the Van were nabbed.
While questioning they disclosed their name as Satish Kumar Khajuria son of Asa Ram Khajuria of tehsil Bhaddu, district Kathua and Babbu Singh son of Ram Singh of Dadwara tehsil Billawar district Kathua.
During their personal search 08.18 grams of Heroin (chitta) and two Android mobile phones have been recovered from their possessions. All the recovered consignment of drugs (Approximately 8.18 Grams Heroin along with vehicle involved got seized and two persons arrested on spot.
In this regard a case FIR No. 160/2025 U/S 8/21/22/29/NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station (PS) Billawar and further investigation is underway to unearth the forward and backward linkages involved in the supply chain of drugs in the area.
