KATHUA, Dec 8: Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, Shobhit Saksena, today rescued 39 bovines at Lakhanpur area, arrested two persons and seized two vehicles including one Truck and one Trala involved in smuggling of animals in two separate cases of bovine smuggling.
Police said in the first instance, a team of Police Station (PS), Lakhanpur led by SHO Lakhanpur under the supervision of DySP, DAR Kathua during naka/ checking at Lakhanpur area noticed the movement of one vehicle ( Truck) bearing Registration No. JK02DL-2773 which was being driven by one Rohit Kumar, son of Des Raj of Chak Bhagwana tehsil Jourian, Beli Charana Jammu who was enrouted from Punjab side towards Srinagar. During checking of the vehicle, 12 bovines were found loaded in it mercilessly which were rescued., One person was arrested and truck was seized on spot, police said.
All the 12 bovines (02 Cows & 10 Oxen) were rescued. Polic said an instant case has been registered at P/S Lakhanpur vide FIR No. 133/2024 U/S 223/BNS, 11/PCA act while further investigation into this matter has been set into motion.
Police said in the second instance, another police team of PS Lakhanpur during naka/ checking at Lakhanpur area noticed the movement of one more vehicle (Trala) bearing Registration No. HR58D-4186 which was being driven by a person namely Vadil Hassan, son of Munshi of Alipur Shamli UP, who was enrouted from Punjab side towards Srinagar. During checking of the vehicle, 27 bovines were found loaded in it which were rescued.
One person was arrested and the Trala was seized on spot. All the 27 bovines (07 Cows & 20 Oxen) were rescued, police said.
An instant case has been registered at PS Lakhanpur vide FIR No. 134/2024 U/S 223/BNS, 11/PCA Act while further investigation into this matter has been set into motion.
