KATHUA, Mar 10: Kathua police has rescued 23 bovines at Naka point Truck terminal Lakhanpur area, arrested driver of the vehicle and also seized the vehicle involved in bovine smuggling.
A police spokesperson said a team of Police Station (PS) Lakhanpur led by SHO Lakhanpur Inspector, Neeraj Choudhary under the guidance of Additional, SP Kathua, Rahul Charak and DySP DAR Kathua, Bhagwan Dass during naka/ checking at Truck Terminal Lakhanpur noticed the movement of one suspicious vehicle( Oil Tanker) bearing Registration Number, HR55AQ-5554 driven by one Mohd Jabir Gori, son of Tahir Hassan of Saharanpur who was enrouted from Punjab side towards J&K. During checking of the vehicle, a total of 23 Bovines (21Cows & 02 Oxen) were found loaded in the vehicle mercilessly which were rescued, and the vehicle was seized on the spot.
Spokesperson said an instant case FIR No. 26/2026 U/S 223/BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at PS Lakhanpur while further investigation into this matter has been set into motion. The entire operation was conducted under the overall supervision of SSP, Kathua Mohita Sharma.
