KATHUA, Dec 4: Tightening the noose of bovine smugglers within the district, Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, Mohita Sharma, rescued a total of 17 bovines from Dinga Amb area and seized one vehicle (truck) involved.
Police said today a team of Police Station (PS) Hiranagar led by SHO Hiranagar Inspector, Ashish Sharma under the guidance of SP Operations, Kathua Mukund Tibrewal and SDPO Border, Dheeraj Katoch during naka/ checking at Dinga Amb area noticed the movement of one suspicious vehicle (truck) bearing Registration Number JK02BH-0467 driven by an unknown person enrouted towards Dinga Amb.
The driver was signaled to stop for checking and on seeing Naka party the driver stopped the vehicle few meters away from the Naka point and managed to run away. During checking of the vehicle, total 17 bovines were found loaded in the vehicle mercilessly which were rescued and the truck was seized on spot, police said.
In this connection a case has been registered at PS Hiranagar vide FIR No. 167/2025 U/S 223/BNS 11 PCA Act while further investigation into this matter has been set into motion.
