KATHUA, Aug 21: Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP, R C Kotwal today foiled a bovine smuggling bid in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS), Lakhanpur and rescued more than one dozen bovines, arrested two persons in this connection and a oil tanker involved in the smuggling of animals was also seized on spot.
Police said a rare type of bovine smuggling bid was noticed in the jurisdiction of PS Lakhanpur near here today in which a tanker was being used for illegal transportation of animals. A Police team of PS Lakhanpur led by Inspector, Sumeet Sharma, SHO Lakhanpur under the supervision of Dy SP, DAR Kathua, Sukhdev Singh while on Naka checking in its jurisdictional area intercepted a tanker bearing Registration Number HR55K-7085 being driven by Harpaul Singh, son of Avtar Singh of Nanak Nagar Jammu who along with his accomplice namely Rinku Kumar, son of Darshan Kumar of Doulian tehsil and district Samba was stopped for checking.
During checking of the tanker more than one dozen bovines were found loaded inside the tanker. The police team rescued 13 bovines, and two accused were arrested and the oil tanker was seized. A case vide FIR No. 93/2021 U/S 188 IPC,11 PCA Act has been registered at PS Lakhanpur and further investigation has been set into motion accordingly.
