KATHUA, Sept 28: Kathua police has registered an open FIR in connection with defacing of Tri Colour in BJP rally taken out yesterday at Patel Nagar here.
When BJP candidate, Rahul Dev was going to file his nomination papers for Municipal Council elections and was leading a public rally, the MLA Kathua, Rajiv Jasrotia was also accompanying the rally. During the rally one person just behind the BJP leader was carrying the defaced Tri Colour in the rally.
But no one paid attention to this mistake before it came in the light of common man and leaders of opposition parties. Number of people approached to Kathua Police to register a case regarding defacing of Tri Colour. Following the complaints SHO Kathua, Amit Sangra registered a FIR under Prevention of Insult to National Flag Honour Act 1971 , Section 2.
The police is investigating the matter as the issue was raised at various quarters by opposition and prominent citizens. The police is working on all aspects that whether it was a mistake made by the person who was carrying the Tri Colour or any one has hatched a conspiracy.
The matter is under serious consideration of police to find out the actual fact and to maintain the respect to National Flag, said a senior police officer.
