KATHUA, June 28: Kathua police today foiled another bovine smuggling attempt at Lakhanpur after rescuing 10 animals.
Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal today rescued 10 bovines.
Police said a team led by Inspector, Sumeet Sharma SHO Police Station (PS), Lakhanpur under the supervision Dy.SP DAR, Kathua, Sukhdev Singh noticed one truck , bearing Registration Number, JK02T/1779 being driven by Surjeet Kumar, son of Sat Paul of Tanda tehsil, R.S Pura stopped it for checking. During checking 10 bovines i.e eight cows and two oxen were rescued from the truck which were loaded in it stealthily hidden under the vegetables with new modus operandi.
Meanwhile, all the bovines were rescued, driver arrested and truck seized. A case FIR No. 82/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11PCA Act has been registered at Police Station, Lakhanpur. Further investigation is going on.
