Kathua jawan killed in Jharkhand

page1-1KATHUA, Oct 11: A jawan of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) hailing from district Kathua  was killed in an encounter with Maoists at Sundar Pahari in Godda district of Jharkhand yesterday. In the attack, a constable was also injured.
A few companies of SSB jawans, along with the district police, were conducting special operations in Godda, 400 kilometers from Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi, when the Maoists sitting in an ambush opened fire on them, killing constable Sujit Kumar Singh (27), Vijay Kumar (son of retired Subedar of Army), a resident of Uttri, district Kathua on the spot.
Godda shares border with Bhagalpur and Banka districts of Bihar. The two districts will go to polls in the first phase of Assembly election tomorrow. The spot is around 30 kilometers from Bihar border but the operations were being conducted to secure the border in the wake of the elections.
The jawan is survived by his father, mother, sister and brother. He got married to Manu in the month of February this year.
The body of the jawan will reach Jammu tomorrow and he will be cremated with full honours. The village was in mourn, when the news of his death flashed.
As per the family of the deceased, he joined SSB in 2010 and passed out parade in 11th BRTC, CT/ED Batch Gorakhpur in 2012.
