JAMMU, Mar 31: On the occasion of Maharishi Kashyap Jyanti, a Shoba Yatra organized by the Kashyap Samaj of Jheewer biradari was held here today.
The yatra was taken out under the chairmanship of Chaman Lal Mehra and was flagged off by chief guest Vijay Kumar, DFO wild life department, Kathua-Udhampur in the presence of a large number of people.
The jhanki passed through main bazars of Jammu city and was welcomed at Patta Chungi, Patta Bohri, Talab Tillo, Pacca Ghrat, Shakti Nagar, Rajpura, Rehari Colony, Sarwal,Talli Morh (Old Janipur), New Plot and culminated at Ambphalla.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohan Lal Pawar, senior leader of Kashyap Samaj described the preaching of saint Maharishi Kashyap.
He also detailed that the vansh of Kashyap Samaj.
“We are continuously requesting to the Union Government & JK-UT administration for caste census with separate column of OBC regarding the accurate counting of this caste and of total OBC Castes, so that budget can be allocated for their development,” he said.
They also appealed to the Government to declare 5th April of every year as an optional holiday.
Bansi Lal Choudhary, senior leader of Kashyap Samaj stated that keeping in view the Kashyap Samaj (Jheewer Biradri) in the list of JK-UT OBC masses is a great injustice with the Kashyap Samaj.
Vikas Mehra said that the masses of Kashyap Nishad Samaj compelled the J&K Government to make the amendment in J&K Panchyati Raj Act -1989 and in Municipal Corporation/ Committees Act-2000 regarding the OBC reservation as per their population in Panch, Sarpanch, DDC-Members and Corporators in Municipal Corporation/ Committees keeping in view the Article-243D-6 & 243T-6.
Among others who addressed during the yatra included Dina Nath Kashyap, Sham Lal Kashyap, Arjit Kumar Kashyap, Madan Lal, Madan Lal Pappi Halwai, Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Bishan Lal and Bansi Lal Gumbal.
