JAMMU, June 15: As part of its ongoing Saptahik Rangdhara weekly theatre series, the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) here today presented Kashmiri play ‘Gadd Bateh’ which was staged by Pir Panchal (Ceses) Organisation.
Harvinder Kour, Secretary, JKAACL, presented memento to the performing group in appreciation of their outstanding performance.
Gadd Bateh is a Kashmiri play written by Rakesh Roshan Bhat and directed by Rohit Bhat. The play revolves around a Kashmiri Pandit who while striving to preserve the cultural traditions of the KP (Kashmiri Pandit) community in exile, finds himself unable to celebrate Gadd Bateh due to not owning a house for 35 years in Jammu. When he finally builds his own home, he wishes to mark the occasion quietly. However, other characters—including his daughter-in-law, a fish-loving neighbour and even the divine figure of Garr Devta—turn it into a memorable celebration.
Artists who performed in the play were Rakesh Tickoo, Rahul Kilam, King C Bharti, Suman Bhat, Rahul Pandita, Bharti Koul and Vinay Pandita; costumes were designed by Bharti Kaul; lighting was managed by Rravinder Sharma; makeup by Shammy Damir; properties by Sushma Kumari and music was composed by Ishu Bharti Pandit.
Anil Tickoo, ACO conducted the proceedings.
