JAMMU, Jan 31: A Kashmiri Pandit Community meet was held today at Shri Shardha Mata Temple, Bantalab, near here under the leadership of Moti Lal Malla. The meeting witnessed participation from the community and reflected a strong collective resolve to strengthen the organisational and democratic framework of All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC).
The main objective of the meeting was to deliberate upon and constitute an Election Committee empowered to conduct free, fair, and transparent elections of the organisation.
More than 125 members of the community, including senior citizens, intellectuals, youth, and social activists, participated in the meeting, demonstrating unity and concern for the future of the organisation.
During the deliberations, several speakers presented their views on the issue of holding elections for ASKPC.
Some speakers opined that, in view of his leadership and experience, Moti Lal Malla could be elected president through consensus or choice vote, with elections to be held at a later stage.
However, the overwhelming majority of participants strongly advocated that elections should be held immediately to provide ASKPC with a democratically elected and representative body.
After detailed deliberations, the meeting constituted an Election Committee comprising ten members, which will conduct the elections within a fixed timeframe.
It was further resolved that ASKPC, which had been functioning as an ad-hoc body for over three years, shall henceforth function as a full-fledged organisation.
