Kashmir today

Sir,
With the imposition of Governor’s rule in the State, some leaders are saying that the atmosphere in the Valley is not conducive for the elections whereas a few advocate for conducting the fresh elections. Day in and day out there are rumours that horse-trading is also going on and the democratic set up might be again in place as the Assembly is in suspended animation.
However, it would be better for the State of Jammu and Kashmir to be under Governor’s rule for some time rather than  for six months or a year because the conditions have worsened in the popular rule. Hartals and bandhs are going on. Stone pelting has in no way reduced to minimum. Anti-India elements are quite active, rather have multiplied. Civil administration is taking hiccups. Law and order in the Valley is not worth appreciation. The efforts of the fundamentalists in radicalising the society have not yet halted rather  they are gaining momentum that would demolish Kashmiriyat wholly, if some traces are visible today.
