Srinagar, Dec 14: Kashmir valley reeled under sub-zero minimum temperatures today due to dry weather conditions and temperatures are going to plummet further as the Meteorological Department has forecast dry weather conditions for the rest of the week.
Srinagar recorded the minimum temperature of minus 2.7 degree Celsius, down from previous night’s minus 0. 5 degree Celsius.
Pahalgam shivered at a low minus 5.3 degree Celsius compared to the previous night’s minus 4.9 degree Celsius.
Kokernag town in South Kashmir registered a low of 0.8 degree Celsius, same as previous night.
Kupwara, in North Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 2.7 degree Celsius against minus 0.7 degree Celsius of previous night, while Qazigund the gateway town to Kashmir valley registered the minimum of minus 2.8 degrees Celsius, which was marginally up from minus 3.2 degree Celsius yesterday.
Leh in Ladakh region was the coldest recorded place at minus 10.9 degree Celsius. Kargil town recorded a minimum temperature of minus 10.2 degree Celsius.
Jammu city recorded 6.9 degree Celsius, Katra 8.9 degree Celsius, Batote 3.9 degree Celsius, Banihal 5.7 degree Celsius and Bhaderwah 0.5 degree Celsius as the minimum temperatures.
Srinagar recorded maximum day temperature of 11.9 degree Celsius while normal day temperature for this time of the year is 9 degree Celsius, Qazigund recorded 12.4 degree Celsius, Pahalgam 10.4 degree Celsius, Kupwara 13 degree Celsius, Kokernag 11.7 degree Celsius, Gulmarg 2.2 degree Celsius, Kargil minus 5.2 degree Celsius and Leh 6.7 degree Celsius.
The day temperatures in Jammu city was recorded at 20.1 degrees Celsius, while it was 20.3 degree Celsius in Katra town, 16.6 degree Celsius in Batote, 15.3 degree Celsius in Banihal and 15.5 degree Celsius in Bhaderwah town.
The weatherman has forecast dry weather for rest of the week.
