SRINAGAR : National highway connecting the Kashmir Valley with the rest of the country was opened for one-way traffic from Srinagar to Jammu today.
The drivers have been directed to drive with precaution at several places where the roads are slippery, particularly at Qazigund and Jawahar tunnel to avoid accident.
A traffic police spokesman said there was light snowfall at Patnitop, Qazigund and Ramban area yesterday.
Several vehicles, mostly trucks, which were stranded on the highway on the other side of the tunnel were also cleared yesterday.
Today, hundreds of vehicles, including those carrying passengers, left Srinagar and other parts of the valley for Jammu this morning.
The one-way traffic is likely to continue to avoid accident and traffic jam on the highway until further orders are received. (AGENCIES)
