SRINAGAR, Nov 4: Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) today asserted that the newly launched “Ghar-Ghar Dastak, Har-Ghar Dastak” campaign is not just a slogan, but a reaffirmation of the party’s strong push for the restoration of complete statehood to J&K.
Under the movement, district presidents and particularly block presidents will be reaching out to every household across blocks and panchayats to seek public cooperation in the party’s endeavour to restore dignity and honour to J&K. JKPCC president Tariq Hameed Karra made these remarks while chairing a block presidents’ conclave at the Srinagar party office.
The meeting was attended by coordinators and district presidents of the Kashmir region, who spoke extensively on the significance of the “Ghar-Ghar Dastak, Har-Ghar Dastak” movement. They described the slogan as powerful and reflective of the Congress Party’s uncompromising fight for the restoration of Statehood.
Karra urged all block presidents to convert the campaign into a full public movement in their respective areas and mobilize maximum public support. He alleged that the Centre has deliberately delayed restoration of Statehood to continue direct rule in J&K.
He said people of both Jammu and Kashmir have become victims of what he termed the Centre’s wrong policies, resulting in rising unemployment, lack of development and economic slowdown. He accused the BJP-led government of stripping J&K of the constitutional protection it once enjoyed and degrading a “full-fledged princely state” to a Union Territory.
Calling the movement an indigenous people’s campaign with the slogan “Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq”, Karra warned the Centre that the Congress will not remain silent on what he described as dilly-dallying tactics.
Senior leaders Bashir Ahmad Magray, MLA Nizamuddin Bhat, MLA Irfan Hafeez Lone, Abdul Raheem Rather, Abdul Gani Khan, Nissar Ahmad Mandoo, Mahila president Shameema Raina, GSO Abid Kashmir, Dr Audil Farooq Mir Lasjan and several district presidents addressed the conclave.
On the occasion, Karra, along with other senior leaders, released the “Ghar-Ghar Dastak, Har-Ghar Dastak” campaign pamphlet.
