KARGIL, Nov 17: Frontier District Kargil observed a total shut down on the call of Employees Joint Action Committee Kargil which was supported by all Religious Bodies as well as political and social organizations.
EJAC called a total shut down in Kargil on the Reservation Annulment Judgment of the State High Court Jammu and Kashmir.
All Government establishments, private educational institutions, shops as well as traffic movement was restricted in support of the strike.
Later a peaceful protest rally under the banner of EJAC Kargil in which thousands of employees, public as well as leaders of all religious, social as well as political parties participated.
Prominent among them includes Senior Congress leader and MLA Kargil Haji Asgar Ali Karbalie, former Minister and senior NC leader Qamar Ali Akhoon, President PDP Kargil Kacho Gulzar Hussain, Former MLC and representative Anjuman Sahab Zaman Syed Ahmad Razvi, State Executive Member BJP Mohammad Subhan Jafary, representatives of Religious Organizations Islamia School Kargil and Imam Khomaeni Memorial Trust, Bar Association Kargil, Social Organizations includes, SEMOK, Youth Action Committee, All Ladakh Youth Action Committee and Merchant Association Kargil.
The rally concluded with a function in which representatives of all the religious, social and political parties supported the protest of EJAC against the Annulment of reservation in the State.
MLA Kargil and Senior Congress Leader Haji Asgar Ali Karbalie has assured that if the ruling party passes a Bill in the protection of Reservation Bill in the coming Assembly session, Opposition Party will support the bill, and added that he has taken the issue already with the Chief Minister on which CM assured him for his full consideration on protecting the reservation.
Senior NC leader and Former Minister Qamar Ali Akhoon assured the employees of Kargil that LAHDC has extended its full support in favour of the issue raised by EJAC and suggested that all the political, religious and social organizations of Ladakh should come forward and form a committee to fight for the reservation policy.
Representatives of BJP, PDP, ISK, IKMT and Anjuman Sahab Zaman along with representatives of other organizations while talking on this occasion has supported the issue raised by EJAC and has assured for their support in future also for resolving the issue.
Mohammad Mukhtar Khan President EJAC Kargil thanking all religious, political as well as social organizations for their support in favour of EJAC, informed the people present there that Chairman J&K Legislative Council Haji Anayat Ali has also extended his support on this issue with EJAC and has assured for any kind of help in resolving the reservation policy.
