Karan Singh completes 70 yrs of public life

JAMMU, June 19: Former Sadr-i-Riasat and veteran Congress leader, Dr Karan Singh today expressed his satisfaction on the completion of a long innings of 70 years of his public life.
In a press statement here today Dr Singh said, ” It was on June 20, 1949 that my father Maharaja Hari Singh appointed me Regent of Jammu and Kashmir. Subsequently, after being head of the State for 18 years, I moved on to national politics, including 10 years in Indira Gandhi’s cabinet, 40 years in both Houses of Parliament and many national and international assignments,” he added.
Dr Singh further said, ” Over the decades, I have interacted with a vast number of people in India and abroad. I would like to thank them all for the warmth and friendship that I have invariably received. It has been a fascinating privilege for me to participate in the exciting adventure of building free India over all these decades, virtually ever since its birth,” Dr Singh maintained.
