CHENNAI, Mar 21: Joint Working Groups (JWGs) will be established comprising representatives from various Ministries and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to develop roadmap on enhancing use of space technology.
A decision to this effect was taken at an interactive meetings ISRO Chairman, and Secretary, Department of Space Dr. V. Narayanan, had with Secretaries from key Ministries on leveraging space technology in water resources, agriculture, and urban and rural development.
The JWGs would comprise senior officials from the respective Ministry and ISRO. These group will develop future long term roadmap and strategies to enhance the use of space technology within these Ministries, aligning with the vision of Viksit Bharat.
Dr Narayanan held meetings with Ms.Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary (Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation); Shailesh Kumar Singh, Secretary (Rural Development); Devesh Chaturvedi, Secretary (Agriculture and Farmers Welfare); and Srinivas Katikithala, Secretary (Housing and Urban Affairs), along with senior officials from the Ministries and ISRO, including Dr. Prakash Chauhan, Director, NRSC.
The Secretaries appreciated ISRO’s contributions in utilizing space technology for scientific resource management, enhancing governance transparency and facilitating data-driven decision-making.
Dr Narayanan emphasized India’s ambition to be a global leader in space technology applications for societal benefits and underscored the need for collective efforts to achieve this vision, ISRO said in a release on Friday.
To advance this goal, it was agreed to establish JWGs comprising senior officials from the respective ministry and ISRO.(UNI)
