KARGIL, Aug 23: Justice Mohammad Yousuf Wani, Judge, High Court of J&K and Ladakh, and Administrative Judge for District Kargil, paid a two-day visit to the district to review the functioning of courts and assess judicial infrastructure.
On his arrival at Drass, Justice Wani was accorded a warm reception by Spalzes Angmo, Principal District & Sessions Judge Kargil; Chemit Yurgyal, Secretary DLSA Kargil; Sadiq Ali Wazir, Munsiff Drass; Advocate Reyaz Ahmad, president Bar Association Kargil, along with Bar members; Vishal Atri, SDM Drass; Inayatullah, DySP HQ Kargil and other officials of the district administration. At Kargil, he was received by Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Kumar, SSP Shree Raam R, Chief Judicial Magistrate Wangial Tsering and members of the Bar.
The following day, Justice Wani visited the District Court Complex Kargil, where he was presented with a Guard of Honour. He inspected the courts of Principal District & Sessions Judge, Chief Judicial Magistrate, and Special Judicial Mobile Magistrate besides reviewing old civil and criminal records. He was briefed about the status of pending cases in the district and later interacted with court staff, listening to their grievances.
Justice Wani also inspected the upcoming new Court Complex at Kurbathang. Sadiq Ali, Executive Engineer PWD, briefed him about the status of the project. Justice Wani personally reviewed the under-construction buildings and held a meeting with DC Kargil, Executive Engineer PWD, judicial officers and Bar members regarding timely completion of the complex and approval of pending DPRs.
He assured that the matter would be pursued with the High Court of J&K and Ladakh as well as concerned administrative secretaries of Ladakh to ensure immediate approvals and removal of bottlenecks for early completion of the project.
Later, Justice Wani interacted with the members of the Bar Association Kargil to discuss their issues and assured them of necessary redressal.
