NEW DELHI, Nov 20: A well-researched book on Jammu and Kashmir published by Manas Publications has hit the stands at Foreign Correspondent’s Club here.
Dr Subramaniam Swamy, Member Parliament and a multifaceted personality was the chief Guest and Indresh Kumar, Member National Executive RSS was guest of honour. The book titled “Plight of Jammu & Kashmir- The Unknown Files” authored by a retired Judge of J&K High Court and a prominent religious and social activist Justice G D Sharma, claims that the erstwhile British rulers at the time of independence hatched conspiracy that attributed to the delay in signing of Instrument of Accession by the Maharaja Hari Singh, which is the genesis of irresolvable Kashmir dispute.
The 552-page hard bound book deals with variety of significant issues ranging from history of Kashmir to growth of Muslim Conference to constitution of first democratic institution under the name of Praja Sabha by Maharaja to Accession  and host of controversies and problems including causes for spreading the militancy in J&K. The author strongly supports the demand of abrogation of controversial Article 370 of Constitution of India with a caveat that the opinion of inhabitants of three distinct Regions- Jammu, Ladakh, and Kashmir, should be ascertained.
The book gives historical background of Article 370, its advantages and dis-advantages along with the manner in which it can be abrogated or modified.
The ceremony was attended by retired High Court Judges of Delhi, retired high ranking bureaucrats, advocates, some prominent citizens, social activist and above all a large gathering of media persons both national and international.
