Justice Sanjeev appointed Acting CJ of J&K HC

JAMMU, Apr 9: The Central Government today issued a notification for appointment of Justice Sanjeev Kumar as the acting Chief Justice of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court.

“In exercise of the power conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Justice Sanjeev Kumar, Judge of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court, to perform the duties of office of the Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from 10.04.2025 consequent upon the retirement of Justice Tashi Rabstan, Chief Justice, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court on 09.04.2025,” the Union Law Ministry said in a notification.
Justice Kumar was born on April 8 in 1966 in Kathua district and studied law at University of Jammu in 1988. He enrolled as an advocate in 1989. He practised mainly before the High Court and had more than two hundred reported judgments to his credit before he was elevated to the Bench in June 2017 as Permanent Judge of the J&K High Court.
