Juno Joule begins work on Rs 700-Crore CBG Cluster Project in Telangana

SIDDIPET (Telangana), April 12 : Juno Joule Bio Fuels Private Limited on Sunday announced the commencement of groundwork for its flagship cluster-based Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) project at Narmetta Industrial Area in Siddipet district, marking a significant push towards scalable clean energy infrastructure in the state.

The project is part of a larger plan to establish 10 CBG plants, each with a capacity of 10 tonnes per day (TPD), aggregating to 100 TPD, with a total investment of Rs 700 crore, the company said in a release.

The first phase will comprise three plants with a combined investment of Rs 210 crore, while the entire cluster is targeted for completion by 2029-30.

The initiative is being implemented under the Centre’s CBG-CGD Synchronisation Scheme, aimed at integrating compressed biogas into the City Gas Distribution (CGD) network, reducing import dependence and enhancing domestic clean fuel supply.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Telangana IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu and Rajya Sabha MP Bhubaneswar Kalita, along with other public representatives and industry stakeholders.

The proposed CBG plants will utilise agricultural residues such as paddy straw, along with organic waste including poultry litter and cattle dung, converting them into renewable fuel. The model is expected to help curb stubble burning, reduce emissions, and promote a circular economy.

Speaking on the occasion, Sridhar Babu said Telangana is focused on building a future-ready and sustainable industrial ecosystem, adding that initiatives such as CBG projects reflect the state’s thrust on clean energy, innovation, and rural development.

“By converting agricultural and organic waste into valuable energy, such projects not only address environmental challenges but also create new economic opportunities for farmers and local communities. We welcome investments that strengthen Telangana’s position as a progressive hub for green and sustainable infrastructure,” he said.

The project has secured structured offtake arrangements with GAIL (India) Limited and Bhagyanagar Gas Limited, ensuring integration into the CGD network and providing demand visibility for industrial and mobility applications in the Hyderabad market.

Nagasharath Rayapati, CEO of Juno Joule Green Energy Private Limited, said the project represents a key milestone in advancing India’s clean and self-reliant energy ecosystem.

“With the country moving towards mandatory compressed biogas (CBG) blending and reduced dependence on imports, the need for scalable and reliable bio-energy infrastructure has become critical,” he said.

He added that the company’s cluster-based model is designed to ensure consistency at scale, unlock value from agricultural waste, and contribute to energy security and rural economic growth.

India’s bio-energy sector is witnessing strong momentum, driven by policy support and the push for sustainable alternatives to fossil fuels. However, challenges such as assured feedstock availability, infrastructure integration, and viable offtake mechanisms continue to impact large-scale deployment.

Juno Joule’s cluster-based approach aims to address these gaps by enabling operational efficiency, ensuring consistent supply, and creating a replicable framework for future expansion.

The Narmetta facility marks the first step in the company’s broader vision to develop integrated bio-energy infrastructure across key regions, aligned with national initiatives such as the GOBARdhan scheme and India’s clean energy transition goals. (UNI)
