JAMMU, July 2: A devotional Bhajan titled ‘Chhari Yatra Amarnath-Tappe’, dedicated to Baba Barfani Amarnath, was officially released today by Prof Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, at a special event organized by NanKesVri Productions.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Umesh Rai commended the efforts of NanKesVri Productions and lauded Sooraj Sharma for his soulful rendition and commitment to cultural preservation. He said that devotional music has the power to uplift the spirit and create a deep emotional connection with our traditions. He emphasized that the Bhajan not only enriches our spiritual landscape but also showcases the vibrant cultural diversity of Jammu and Kashmir.
Prof Rai further added that such creative works must be encouraged and supported as they serve as a bridge between generations-instilling pride, reverence, and awareness among the youth about the region’s sacred traditions.
The programme was graced by Dr Neeraj Sharma, Prof Sangeeta Gupta, Dean Planning and Development and Prof Neelu Rohmetra, Dean Research Studies as the special guests.
The Bhajan has been sung by Sooraj Sharma, a noted All India Radio artist. Music has been composed by ASH K, and the videography has been done by Rahul Dutta. The song narrates the spiritual journey of the Amarnath Yatra, vividly portraying the major halts along the route from Pahalgam to the Holy Cave, capturing both the sanctity and the majestic beauty of the pilgrimage.
Sooraj Sharma, known for his versatile singing in Hindi, Dogri, Punjabi, Kashmiri, and Kishtwari languages, explained the inspiration behind the bhajan. He described it as a heartfelt tribute to the journey of faith and devotion undertaken by pilgrims each year.
Renowned Ghazal singer Dharmesh Nargotra, who also attended the event, praised the production quality and the artistic depth of the bhajan.
Other who attended the release function included Pandit Sanjay Shastri, Suresh Sharma, Sumit Sharma, Rahul Dutta, and Keshav Veer.
