JAMMU, Dec 11: University of Jammu (JU) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government Homoeopathic Medical College (GHMC) Kathua, to establish weekly Homeopathy Outpatient Department (OPD) services at the University Health Centre.
The MoU signing ceremony was followed by the inauguration of the Weekly Homoeopathic OPD cum Homoeopathic Awareness Session, held under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Prof Umesh Rai. The event took place at the Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium, drawing enthusiastic participation from a large number of university employees, students, scholars and faculty.
Chief guest, Prof Sangeeta Gupta (Dean of Planning and Development) along with guest of honour, Prof Yash Pal Sharma, convener of the University Health Centre advisory committee and special guest Dr Surinder Atri, Principal of GHMC Kathua, officially inaugurated the program.
In her inaugural address, Prof Gupta highlighted the efficacy of homoeopathic treatments in addressing chronic health concerns, stating, “Homeopathy offers a natural pathway to wellness, bridging preventive care with curative solutions for modern ailments.”
Prof Yash Pal Sharma underscored the collaborative essence of the initiative for the benefit of all stakeholders of JU and Dr Surinder Atri termed the MoU as a progressive alliance that could inspire similar collaborations across institutions in Jammu and Kashmir.
The awareness session featured an enlightening lecture titled “Use of Homeopathic Medicine for Preventive and Curative Treatment of Chronic Diseases.” Dr Nitin Magotra, HoD Organon at GHMC Kathua, delivered a comprehensive presentation on advancements in homoeopathic medicine. Complementing this, Dr Priyanka traced the history of homoeopathy, detailing its global evolution and pivotal role in India’s medical landscape.
Earlier, Dr Saloni Mahajan, Medical Officer, presented the welcome address. Sonia Baldotra conducted the proceedings of the event. The programme concluded with vote of thanks presented by Dr Bharat Bhushan, Chief Medical Officer.
