JU organizes Principals’ meet

JAMMU, Dec 4: Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof R D Sharma today emphasized the role of the Principals of the private colleges of Jammu division, saying they have a crucial responsibility in the overall development of the educational system.
“Realizing their pivotal responsibility, the Principals have to strive hard for creating conducive academic atmosphere and become role models for others to emulate”, the Vice Chancellor said while inaugurating a day long meet of the Principals of private colleges of the Jammu division on the campus this afternoon.
The meet was jointly organized by the University Grants Commission and Academic Staff College in collaboration with the College Development Council, University of Jammu.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Prof Rajni Kant, Director, Academic Staff College, said that the meet has been designed to narrow down the gap being experienced while performing inter-institutional academic and administrative barriers.
Prof Desh Bandhu Gupta, Director CDC, asked the Principals not to compromise on certain basic principles. He said that Principals being the link between the University and the Colleges should be conversant with the new statutes framed by the University.
Prof Keshav Sharma, Controller Examinations, asked the Principals to focus on the quality of the education. He urged the Principals that their main focus should always be the students and they should also be committed towards providing them with the quality education.
The technical sessions of the work shop were taken by Lochan Dass, Director Treasuries, Jammu who spoke on financial Codes & Procedures. Prof Neelam Sood from National University of Educational Planning and Administration, New Delhi also addressed the Principals.
An interactive session of Principals and University administrations was also held. Prof Manoj Dhar, Registrar, Prof Keshav Sharma, Controller of Examinations, Sanjeev Mahajan, Addl Controller, Jatinder Khajuria, Jt Registrar, Finance also took part in the interactive session.
Prof I A Hamal, Vice-Chancellor, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, was the chief guest and Prof Neelam Saraf, DAA was the guest of honour at the valedictory function. They gave away the certificates to the participating teachers.
The vote of thanks was presented by Ranjit Kalra and the proceedings were conducted by Balbir Kour.
