JAMMU, June 18: A Law student of the University of Jammu (JU) died after reportedly falling from the balcony of a hostel building late Tuesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Vishal Bhardwaj alias Bunny, son of Dev Raj from Panchairi, Udhampur, who was currently residing in Katra. He was a fifth-semester student of the Department of Law and was staying at Jambu Lochan Hostel of the campus.
Officials said Vishal was feeling unwell and had stepped onto the balcony to vomit when he lost his balance and fell.
According to them, the incident occurred around 11 PM, and police reached the spot within minutes. “He was immediately taken to Government Medical College Jammu, where doctors declared him dead on arrival,” they said.
As per colleagues of the deceased student, a fellow hostel mate even tried to revive him through CPR, but Vishal could not be saved, as he might have died on-the-spot.
Meanwhile, after post-mortem at GMC Jammu on Wednesday, the body was handed over to the family of the deceased for last rites. Police have also started inquest proceedings to ascertain the exact cause of death.
