JAMMU, Dec 11: In its continued efforts to foster alumni engagement and interaction, The Law School, University of Jammu, hosted an enriching mentoring session centered on the theme “Career Prospects in Law with Special Emphasis on Competitive Exams.”
The session featured distinguished alumni, Arshad Noomani, Functional Manager, Directorate of Industries & Commerce, and Ambika Bali, Under-Secretary to the Government, Forest, Ecology, and Environment Department, J&K, who led the discussion.
The speakers not only shared insights into their journeys at The Law School but also shed light on the challenges of exploring career opportunities post-graduation. They emphasized that while preparing for competitive exams requires unwavering focus and dedication, it is equally important to recognize the limits of one’s capacity to ensure mental well-being. Responding to queries regarding the suitability of law as an optional subject for competitive exams, both speakers affirmed that law is a strong choice, owing to its scoring potential and its overlap with general studies subjects.
The students also raised queries about internship opportunities and potential collaborations with the departments where the alumni are currently serving. The alumni responded positively, indicating that such opportunities could be explored within the framework of existing rules and regulations.
Following the interactive session, students delivered a captivating Nukkad-Natak performance on the lawns of The Law School. The performance raised awareness on the anti-ragging movement, with a special focus on the challenges faced by specially abled students. The performance was well-received by the audience, which included attendees from neighbouring departments.
Dr Seema Rohmetra, Director, The Law School, expressed her gratitude to the alumni speakers and praised their dedication to supporting their alma mater. She also commended the Nukkad-Natak team, led by Suhani Sharma and Shayasta Chowdhary, for their impactful performance.
The event proceedings were conducted by Suhasini and coordinated by Dr Bindu Sangra and Dr Nitan Sharma.
