JU gets financial support under DST-PURSE

JAMMU, Aug 31: University of Jammu has been allocated a grant of Rs 16.75 crores under its DST-PURSE Programme.
Promotion of University Research and Scientific Excellence (PURSE) is an incentive award scheme with a focus on rejuvenation of research in Indian Universities.
JU was first awarded grant under this scheme in the year 2011. Later, an independent study was undertaken by Department of Science and Technology to analyze the performance of Universities through publications in SCOPUS data base for ten years period (2002-2012) and h-index along with the number of publications of the University.
The Coordinator of PURSE Programme, Professor Rajni Dhingra, who is also Dean Faculty of Science, informed that based on the high performance indicators achieved by the University during the said period and for the improved R &D performance of the University for producing quality research output in the form of publications, the DST has decided to support the University further for few more years.
