JAMMU, July 28: A meeting of the Finance Committee of University of Jammu was held under the chairmanship of Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, here today.
Prof Ishar apprised the members about the financial scenario of the University and requested the State Government for generous funding so as to take up the developmental aspects of the University as well as the welfare of the University fraternity.
The special request was made for the enhancement of the allocation of the funds for examination related processes. Subsequently the stock of various National Funding Schemes was undertaken and it was emphasized that all the projects sanctioned should be completed in a time bound manner.
Special mention was made of the Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Plan (PMRP) funding of Rs 56.08 crore representing first installment for the development of various Campuses, Department of Science & Technology (DST), Govt Of India special package for the upliftment of the Science Infrastructure in the Government Degree Colleges. The Promotiorsity Research & Scientific Excellence (PURSE) Programme of the DST for the scientific upliftment of the Science Departments and the SAP programmes of the UGC extended to the 15 Departments of the University.
Committee recommended that the revised estimates of 2011-2012 and budget estimates 2012-2013 pertaining to the University matters and enhancement in the budgetary provisions allocated to the examination wing, creation of new object heads particularly for the office of Dean Research Studies, Publication Cell and Rinchen Bzangpo Art Gallery, Institute of Mountaineering and Environment at Bhaderwah Campus of University, Kathua Campus etc. were discussed in detail and it was resolved that due consideration to these shall be paid at the time of finalization of revised estimates of the University.
The University was impressed upon to increase its receipts. The matter regarding enhancement of Ph.D and M Phil scholars was considered sympathetically and it was resolved that it should be discussed in the Joint Committee of the University of Jammu and University of Kashmir in order to maintain parity.
The members of the Finance Committee present on the occasion were Mohd Iqbal Khandey, Principal Secretary to J&K Government, Department of Finance and Financial Advisor JU, Hemant Kumar Sharma, Special Secretary to Govt, Higher Education Department, Prof Desh Bandhu Gupta, Nominee of the Syndicate, Dr Bupinder Singh, Nominee of the Syndicate, Prof. Naresh Padha, Registrar, University of Jammu.
