JU Departments issue admission merit lists

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, July 12: Various departments of Jammu University today released the first cut off merit lists for fresh admission in the Post Graduation courses.
Ironically, unlike the past practice when heavy rush of admission seekers was seen on the campus for finding  their name in the merit-list, there was no hustle bustle in the University Departments where the cut-off lists were displayed.
Even as JU had lowered the pass marks in Entrance Test from 14 to 10, a number of applicants could not get through resulting that   the combined merit cut off remained very low in all the departments.
The Department of Chemistry registered 57.3 percent cut off while for the Department of Physics, the cut off percentage is 51.80. In the Department of Electronics, the cut off percentage is 58.98 while the MCA registered 57.99 percent cut off.
For the admission in 5-year Law Course, the cut-off percentage is 44.62 while the cut off percentage in PG Diploma in Human Rights Studies is 46.63.
The Department of Buddhist Studies registered 44 percent cut off while in the Department of Geography, the cut off percentage is 61. For admission in the Department of Urdu and Economics, the cut off merit is 57 percent and 56 percent, respectively.
Pertinent to mention that the JU had lowered the pass marks in Entrance Test after the number of successful candidates in some subjects was less than the total number of seats available in that Department of the University.
