JAMMU, Apr 17: Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) held a protest demonstration in front of Raj Bhawan here today in protest against the problems faced by inmates of Jagti and other TRTs especially the 18 hour power curtailment in Jagti camp.
Protestors while highlighting the various problems being faced by the migrants putting up in different camps in Jammu, expressed concern over forcing pro-longed power cuts on the camp inmates of Jagti which has added to their sufferings.
The protestors said that Government was forcing the camp inmates to enter into an agreement with PDD for power supply when the fact is that the expenses of the same are borne by Central Government as the camp inmates were leading an exiled life for over last 23 years and they have been deprived of entire movable and immovable property due to the follies of the State Government.
Addressing the protestors, Shadi Lal Pandita president JTC and Soan Kashmir Front while addressing the protestors said that migrants can’t be forced to bear the power tariff as they are dependent on meager cash dolls only. He said the Pandits have not left their native places on their sweet will as such no charges will be paid till their permanent rehabilitation in their homeland with restoration of their entire movable and immovable property.
Moreover executing agreement is impracticable as the migrants putting up in the camps do not possess any property of their own and they have been temporarily rehabilitated in the camps under PM’s employment package.
The JTC leaders demanded immediate renovation of all damaged temples in Valley, restoration of Pandits land and property, enhancement of cash assistance to Rs 15,000 per month, filling up of remaining vacant posts under PM’s package, allotment of quarters and passage of shrines Bill.
