JAMMU, May 10: A joint press conference was organized by Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) and Soan Kashmir Front (SKF) to highlight the burning problems of the Kashmiri Pandits Migrant community and to seek rehabilitation of the community in Kashmir valley, today.
While interacting with media persons the members have demanded construction of single storey quarters in all three townships comprising of three bedrooms, lobby, kitchen, bathroom etc for ensuring dignified living of the community members.
The Central as well as State Government has been demanded minority status to the community with due political reservation in Lok Sabha as well as State Assembly for Kashmir.
The members of the organisation have rejected the Government’s proposal of cluster accommodation in different village in Kashmir valley which is not feasible for the community as they may have to live under the threat of Hurriyat Conference and other separatist organizations as prior to migration of the community had faced harassment and were forced to leave their homes and hearths.
Shadi Lal Pandita, president, Jagti Tenement Committee, while speaking to the media said that different statements are being given by the leader of BJP and PDP, some leaders have been assuring composite township for the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits community and others from PDP have been opposing rehabilitation of the Kashmiri Pandit community in composite township under the pressure of Hurriyat Conference and separatist organizations.
Demand for immediate repair of road from Kandoli to Jagti camp with existing inner road, parks and allied problems were raised.
Other present in the press conference were Rajinder Dhar, Raj Nath Tickoo, Sunil Koul, Inderji Labroo, Raghunath Pandita, Ramesh Bhat, Shuban Raina, S L Kar and others.
