JAMMU, Aug 6: A meeting of Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) was held under the chairmanship of its president Shadi Lal Pandita, here today.
Addressing the meeting, Mr Pandita said that the Government of India as well as the State Government have been misleading the general masses of Jammu province on the name of AIIMS by saying that Centre has asked State to identify land measuring 200 acres both in Jammu and Srinagar, adding that AIIMS is essential for Jammu as it is a centrally located place in the State of Jammu and Kashmir, so it will benefit the people of all parts of the State.
Raj Kumar Tickoo and Sunil Koul, convener and general secretary of JTC respectively advocated for rehabilitation of Kashmiri Migrant Community in safe and separate township in Kashmir Valley, while Rajinder Dhar and Vimal Raina, youth leaders demanded filling of 6000 posts announced by the then Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh as a package to Kashmiri Pandits. They said that thousands of ration cards issued fraudulently in the name of migrants need to be cancelled and the savings thereon need to be paid to genuine migrants.
The demands projected in the meeting included release of balance ex-gratia relief of gutted houses, compensation to over-aged youth of the community, conduct of on spot police recruitment drive at Jagti, announcement of additional 1000 posts of Class-IV for KP youth, construction of dug well in Jagti for proper drinking water, repairing of existing road from Kandoli to Jagti and renovation of Community Hall at Jagti.
The meeting among others was attended by Sunil Raina, Sanjay PANDITA, Ashwani Tickoo, V K Koul, Hari Krishen, Mithan Pandita, Vijay Pandita , M L Akhoon, M L Pandita and CL Pandita.
